6. SOUNDBITE (English) Andreja Pejic, supermodel:

"I'm a concerned citizen of the world. I'm concerned for racial minorities, gender minorities, sexual minorities, I am also concerned for the majority of the people. Because Trump isn't good for the majority - even for the people that voted for him he's not really good for them and they will realise that soon. And you know in Europe there are worrying trends too, fascism is rising in France, in the UK, in Germany. So anyone that sees this happening, it's so hard not to take action, it's hard not to feel thrust into political life, it's hard to turn your back."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Andreja Pejic, supermodel:

"I do think that prejudice is decreasing and will continue to decrease. I think that people in the western world have undergone huge transformation when it comes to racism from the 1950s to today and I do think that prejudice will lessen for the trans community and I hope to be recognized for my talents – not as a trans model but as a talented model. It's like Serena Williams, you know I love that quote when she says 'the best female athlete' - but she crossed out the female part."

10.SOUNDBITE (English) Andreja Pejic, supermodel:

"I believe in humanity, I don't believe that the majority of the people are racist or homophobic or transphobic, I do believe that a lot of people are ignorant, and we can overcome ignorance, but I do believe in people and that we can have a better world than the one we are living in."

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Lily Cole, former supermodel, social entrepreneur:

"I think the reason why this is such a shock to people in the tech industry and in London is because maybe we are more insulated from the reality, from what it means to be poor, what it means to feel marginalised, what it means to feel unlistened to, and we exist in a bubble in a way and it is very important to burst that bubble and think about how we are complicit in creating these problems and how we can change that."

16.SOUNDBITE (English) Lily Cole, former supermodel, social entrepreneur:

"What's happening this last year isn't that surprising to me because when I started Impossible and actually even years before I started Impossible, the genesis of it was that I saw the problems with capitalism, I saw the problems with globalisation and I saw problems with inequality and the kind of alienation and the fallout of our systems, so I've always been critiquing our systems for a very long time and Impossible is my attempt to trying offer an alternative or offering a better way of doing things, it is not perfect and it is no the only way, I think we need multiple, multiple alternatives and suggestions made, but it's trying to make a positive suggestion."

28. SOUNDBITE (English) Lily Cole, former supermodel, social entrepreneur:

"I mean I think that technology for me is a tool, it's a neutral thing, it's not good it's not bad, it's like a hammer. It has the capacity for bad and the capacity for good. But it's a very useful tool and it can really shift and it has shifted our kind of cultural relationships, our political relationships, economical relationships and what Impossible is doing is looking at technology and saying how can we apply it to make improvements, to make things better wether it is in health care or economics or politics."

Storyline

SUPERMODELS IN PORTUGAL HAVE THEIR SAY ON TRUMP WIN

Fashion icons Andreja Pejic and Lily Cole got political, revealing their concerns with the results of the elections in the United States.

Andreja Pejic was born in Bosnia and raised in Australia, but currently lives in New York City. "I'm concerned for racial minorities, gender minorities, sexual minorities, I am also concerned for the majority of the people. Because Trump isn't good for the majority - even for the people that voted for him he's not really good for them and they will realise that soon," she said while attending The Web Summit, considered the biggest tech event in Europe.

Pejic, a Bosnian-born supermodel famous for her androgynous look became a symbol of the global transgender community. Starting out as both a male and female model, she completed her transition in 2014. But she hopes to become more than 'just' the transgender model. "I hope to be recognized for my talents – not as a trans model but as a talented model", she said. Pejic will be launching a documentary telling her transition story.

Lily Cole who is the co-founder of Impossible, a startup based on the idea of a sharing economy, said that people should not be so surprised by the results of the so- called Brexit referendum and of the US elections.

"What's happening this last year isn't that surprising to me because when I started Impossible and actually even years before I started Impossible, the genesis of it was that I saw the problems with capitalism, I saw the problems with globalisation and I saw problems with inequality", said the social entrepreneur.

Impossible was born out of the idea that those who have something to offer to a broader community, can do it for free in order to help others. Either it is piano lessons or language skills, the options are endless and the social network has expanded to hundreds of countries. Impossible has now offices in four countries, including Portugal.

The Web Summit brings together start ups, entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world. According to organizers, 53,000 people from 166 countries attended the event in Lisbon, Portugal.
