“It’s a really important part of my life that we filmed and the cameras filmed some of the most personal parts of my transition that I would never imagine sharing with the world,” she told us at the Web Summit in Lisbon. “But I felt I had a responsibility because there are young people that are watching. You need to give them something to help them out without prejudice.”
The Kickstarter-funded project, which already has 150 hours of footage, has given Pejic the opportunity to “not just to create something beautiful but create something that affects the world, expose some truth in some way and shake it up!” she said, adding that she has a philosophical attitude towards the results.
“It will be interesting to watch myself,” she smiled. “I’ve been pretty involved in it. At the end of the day you’re creating a piece of art that’s not just about yourself and I have to be like, ‘That’s a real moment’. Fashion likes a lot of control about how everything is presented and you have to let go of that. I want to see creativity that breaks boundaries and isn’t just about money.”
