"The last few nights, most of the wooden structures out on the playa are burned down in quasi-spiritual ceremonies where at the end of a burn some people take all of their clothes off and roam around the ashes. It’s all very dramatic."

“The second to last night, there’s a big celebration for the burning of the Man. This year, with the festival’s theme being Da Vinci’s Workshop, the Man was a re-creation of Da Vinci’s renowned Vitruvian Man, his famous drawing depicting a man with perfect proportions. The final night is a bit solemn, as the temple is burned to the ground. Throughout the week, many Burners put memorials or tributes to recently deceased loved ones in the temple. Other tributes are more ironic—I saw an ‘RIP Bernie Sanders’ memorial in the temple!”
