2016-2-19 Transgender Model Andreja Pejic Lands First Major Magazine Cover Since Her Transition

The Marie Claire Spain cover certainly isn't the first boundary the Pejic has broken down since she came out as a transgender woman in 2014. In April 2015, she became the first transgender model to land a spread in Vogue. 

Back in July 2014, Pejic spoke with ET about her transition as she continues to model in the fashion world. "I realized my past as an androgynous model doesn't make me any less of a woman today," she told ET. "And I'm proud of it."

"It was at the age of 13 when I discovered what trans means and what gender identity means and what sexuality means, and I knew that this was something I always had to do," she added.

Pejic recently signed a second year contract with Make Up For Ever and was named Model of the Year for Marie Claire Spain. Previous models to earn this title include Doutzen Kroes, Irina Shayk, Linda Evanelista and Anja Rubik.
