His unique look has earned him spots with famous designers across the world, including Marc Jacobs, but the Australian-born star believes he will only remain in his chosen career for a short period.

“I’m having fun, but in ten years’ time I reckon I’ll be picking fruit. I’ll be living in the middle of the Australian outback with all my children – one adopted from every continent,” he told a UK magazine.

“I’m a sample size six, for now. I didn’t used to be, but I stopped going to be gym, so I wasn’t bulky. I’ve never been told to lose weight or look a certain way because there isn’t really a category I can be put in or anyone I can be compared to,” he added.

MELBOURNE'S gender-bending fashion sensation Andrej Pejic is taking the European catwalks by storm, but he is still "my baby" in the eyes of his proud mother.

The Broadmeadows bombshell was accompanied by his mum Jadranka to the gala opening on Myer's new-look city store on Thursday.

"He is lovely, he is talented and he is my baby," Jadranka said, revealing she worked two jobs last year to fund Andrej's trip to London to start his career.

A living mystery, that that not even (he? her?) knows how to reveal, shake the world of the Parisian fashion.
A creature with pale skin, with a hint of breast, delicate features and male's name, has created astonishment
when he appeared, dress like a bride, at Jean-Paul Gaultier's fashion show few weeks ago. Meanwhile,
in other catwalks, he walk for menswear.

You see Andrej Pejic in a Parisian photo studio and you start to feel a morbid curiosity. But Andrej is impenetrable.
He change clothes behind a mirror, he avoids the intimacy that is created on the set.
When the lunch break arrived, he came close. "Let's do the interview while eating, i'm starving. I want some pasta."
Having been born in Bosnia, and grew up in Melbourne, he can not know that what they bring us - overcooked spaghetti
floating in a sea of cream with smoked salmon that tastes like salt cod - is a terrible thing.
"Very Good" say Andrej. "I would come in Milan for two things: Dolce & Gabbana and the food."

"We live in a boring era, people have no desire to experiment. Maybe I break the mold. I'm different and I am committed to cutivating my uniqueness, since i was lucky to enter in a world that gave me the right tools to transform myself."

Androgynous, transsexual: these are terms that often occur when it comes to Andrej Pejic. And you, how would you define yourself?
"If we talk about sexual orientation, i'll say that love has no boundaries. Actually I'm single: I think I'm not particularly attracted by sex, even if i believe in feelings. Instead, if we talk about gender, i'm very comfortable with the ambiguity that i'm representing. I realize that
I'm really feminine, not only in my aspect, but in my way of being too.

My father has never join us here. Now he live in Croatia. He was an economist, now he's unemployed from years. Mom was an advocate but, in Melbourne, she has become and High School Teacher."

She was never being opposed to your desire to express yourself in such original way?
"Mom is ahead: she loves her kids so much that she accept everything that them want or can be. Now is my passionate fan. Even my brother Igor, who is 21, heterosexual and studying Civil Engineering, is very supportive.

她對你的穿著打扮有過反對嗎?

我媽很前衛,她很愛自己的孩子也接受我們的想法。現在她更是我最大的支持者。而我21歲的唸土木工程的異性戀哥哥Igor也十分支持我。

Who do you admire as a kid?
"David Bowie, Amanda Lear, Boy George, even Salvador Dalì, Madonna: were the 80s and the strangeness didn't make people raise an eyebrow lik now. "

誰是你從小就欣賞的人?

Did the ambiguity always had been an inspiration for you?
"I think so, even if i wasn't conscious of that. When it came the adolescence i couldn't hide myself anymore, and my body wasn't helping: i never had pimples, my voice was still feminine, i liked to dress up and i started to bleach my hair."

"I'm not against cosmetic surgery and the little tricks that womans use to improve their physical appearance."

You said you believe in love. Have you ever find it? Did you had partners?
"Yes, of course. But i'm not sure if i was in love. Being with someone is beautiful when you fully engage to it and i'm an autonomous person, someone that is not able to love completely."

Maybe you had a lover in high school?
"Yes, but don't ask me if it was a boy or a girl, because i've already say that, for me, love has no boundaries. And I've to confess that I really enjoy to raise all this interest, so i will not tell you which side i am. Even because, actually, i don't know it too."

或許你在高中時期曾有過戀人?

有過,但我不想透露對方性別。我說過了,對我來說愛沒有界限。我承認很享受這種保留答案帶來的趣味性,所以我選擇保留隱私。況且就連我自己都還不確定啊。

2011-3-31 Broadmeadow's model Andrej Pejic proud of working-class background

MELBOURNE's other boy from Broady, Andrej Pejic, may be living the glamorous life on the catwalks of Europe, but he is proud of his working-class background.

The gender-bender cult star of haute couture is back home to appear at the opening of Myer's revamped Melbourne flagship store tonight.

"It is not like I was in this huge poverty and then suddenly it was a rags-to-riches kind of story," the 19-year-old said.

"It is a different world, but you go to New York, you go to London and you see places like Broadmeadows.

"It's a working-class suburb, but there's no shame in that and it is definitely home."

Pejic, who has made androgyny a fashion statement, can thank the prospect of part-time work at a fast-food outlet for kick-starting his headline-grabbing modelling career.
He joined Chadwick Models two years ago to earn pocket money."I thought modelling might be better than KFC," he said.

"I wasn't focused on making a career, it just sort of happened.

"I did want to give it a shot to see what happened, and the plan came up for me to go overseas, because the Australian market is limited, especially for me."

Pejic, whose dream job would be to appear in a Lady Gaga video clip, said he was thinking about life off the catwalk, having received movie and TV offers since his star turn as James Blonde on the catwalk for designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.
"I'm just enjoying the ride," Pejic said.

He will be accompanied by his mother, Jadranka, on Myer's red carpet tonight.
His family escaped Bosnia for Serbia, then settled in Broadmeadows when he was nine.

Pejic said he started to emphasise his dramatic icy, blue-eyed beauty as a 14-year-old, yet managed to avoid the curse of bullying in his years at West Meadows Primary and University High School.

"I know people find that really surprising," he said.

"I like to hang around different people and not marginalise myself. They (some people) do . . . ask questions which may be rude, but I never sensed a lot of hostility or violence.

"I think it (society) is not as closed-minded as some people think."

2011-5-23 “I’M CURRENTLY FILMING A PORN MOVIE…”

Andrej Pejic is a walking headline.
The 19 year-old’s latest publicity bonanza: last week’s storm in a polybag over his topless cover of the current edition of Brooklyn, New York-based arts journal Dossier (above).According to Dossier’s distributor, several US chains requested the issue be sold in an opaque plastic bag – the treatment usually meted out to porn magazines – because, the distributor reported, they were advised that ”The model is young and it could be deemed as a naked female.”
What says Pejic of the brouhaha?“I think the gender of the topless person on the cover is irrelevant” Pejic tells Motilo from Germany. “The question we should pose is, whether this is porn or art? Art should never be censored in a democratic society. But I have just been named the 98th sexiest woman in the world [by FHM Magazine] and I’m currently filming a porn movie so this is a tricky one. But at the end of the day the cover is a COVER and it’s doing everything that a cover should do. Grabbing attention, that is.”

It took Pejic two years to hit the international fashion scene after taking up modelling in his home town of Melbourne. But once officially registered on its radar at the Paris menswear shows in June 2010, the blonde, Bosnian-born bombshell who (pending the hair, makeup and styling) is equally – and uniquely – adept at modelling womenswear as he is menswear, has never been far from the news.
After dazzling with a series of photoshoots lensed by some of the fashion world’s biggest photographic names, from Steven Meisel to Juergen Teller, Mert + Marcus and Inez + Vinood, opposite some of the biggest female modelling stars, for Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, Vogue Turkey, i-D, Zeit Magazin, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, among others, in January Pejic became arguably the first man to ever walk a Paris haute couture runway in a dress – closing Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring/summer 2011 show as the traditional couture bride.
Amongst the global headlines, the Daily Mail attempted to incite outrage from readers, noting that the casting of a 19 year-old boy to model womens’ clothes is “fashion’s ultimate insult” in the body image debate.
That’s as may be, but it nevertheless missed the salient point that in Gaultier’s wedding dress – and whether engineered by nature, corsetry or artificial enhancement [read: female hormones] – Pejic actually managed to look curvaceous.

It’s hard to know when Pejic is pulling one’s leg.

Although Barnes & Noble and Borders were widely reported to be the Dossier-censoring chains in question, Barnes & Noble has since flatly denied the claims and according to the distributor, no polybagging was, in the end, required at any US retailer.
According to his Australian mother agency Chadwick Models, an Italian film production company did recently attempt to secure Pejic for a job, however that film did not eventuate. The agency is unaware of any “porn” film.

Numerous unsuspecting media outlets have run with Pejic’s many and varied accounts of how he first came to the attention of model scouts: at the airport, at KFC, at McDonalds, selling fruit in a Melbourne market and in a cornfield.

The truth is a little more prosaic: in May 2008 he sent shots to Chadwick’s Melbourne office, which signed him.
So, is he really doing a porn film?

“Every celeb needs a sex tape, lol” he quips.

After being asked by Hilary Alexander at the Telegraph whether he would consider a sex change, Pejic responded that he would consider one if offered a Victoria’s Secret contract. Was he joking?

“Well I may as well get paid for it. Right?” notes Pejic, who also declined comment on the subject of whether or not he is taking female hormones. “Oh can’t beauty be natural these days?”

But just how is Pejic handling the unrelenting global media attention, which may well have turned him into a modelling superstar, but which has also generated much homophobic commentary on newspaper websites in Australia and even Serbian television?

“Sometimes I feel like I wanna rip my weave out and go to church” he jokes, before adding, on a more serious note, “The media has been very attentive, which I find interesting and which is opening a lot of doors. The gender bender angle is fine. It’s just the way some people describe or write about it that I find really backward and often just cheesy. And when it comes to homophobic or transphobic comments, well I find it sad but I don’t blame the often prejudiced minds that write them. Blame is to be placed on our governments and ruling circles that support conservative, religious and backward policies and ways of thinking and of course the enormous lack of education in these matters”.

James Worthington DeMolet: How do you feel about such an immediate media storm around your rise to fame? Considering it has only been about two seasons and you're one of models.com's top 20 men.

Andrej Pejic: Well I think the media storm is very surprising since models don't really get so much attention these days. So I guess it has gone beyond just the fashion industry or any model ranking, which is nice because it's offering me a wide array of opportunities. But sometimes I do just have to stop and hit myself in the head with my diamond-encrusted vase.

AP: Oh all the time mostly as a female gypsy dancer.

JWD: For guys, it's much easier to understand how to "model," usually clients just want a cool languid dude and the clothes are generally trousers and tops. Do you find that modeling women's clothes brings on more complications?

AP: Well, I think men's editorial modeling is quite advanced and not so easy. Yes I think modeling women's wear is more complicated, but I think I like that.

AP: Oh literally the photographers just told us to turn to each other and lock lips and it took maybe 10 minutes to shoot. It's like our lips were always meant to meet and then the photographers had to separate us!

JWD: What was your take on closing Jean Paul Gaultier's couture show - in the most incredible wedding look no less? Was that a milestone or just another day at the office?

AP: It was amazing - when I was walking down the runway people started clapping in a rhythm. Honestly, it was like a dream.

Are you comfortable sharing "the face" of this movement with her when what it describes for each of you is quite different?

AP: Well I don't think my situation and Lea T's are completely different when it comes to our personal lives but that's personal, for me at least. And I really think people should stop trying to categorize me because of their need for labels. When it comes to our professional lives, well she only does women's wear and I think I cover more fields. Some people in the industry will use us in a very similar way to represent similar ideas and some will want me to be a bit different from her - more androgynous, more boyish or even sex-less rather than womanly. I think professionally I am capable of being very versatile.

Andrej Pejic admits female models are sometimes rude to him.

The 19-year-old was discovered two years ago while working in a McDonalds, and has since gone on to model for many high profile designers, including Marc Jacobs.

He is notable within the fashion industry for his androgynous look, which sees him modelling both male and female items.

Andrej believes his success in the female arena means he is often the subject of criticism from other models, especially women.

"All the big [female] models are usually fine, but yeah, girls can be b***hy. We all get dressed together backstage and I think now they see me in women's campaigns, they do feel worried. But I work hard for it and I don't think I'm any less deserving," he told Grazia.

With his unique look, Andrej admits he is often mistaken for a woman. He has previously revealed his first modelling agent was unsure of his gender, but says he feels most comfortable dressing in a feminine way.

"I'm equally comfortable modelling menswear and womenswear. I got taught to walk in heels by one of my agents, and then practiced in my bedroom.
But wearing women's clothes isn't a big political statement. I don't feel like a role model, it's just my personal look, and often what I feel most attractive in.
If we really have equality between the genders, which we like to pretend we do, it shouldn't be a big deal," he added.

My father is Croatian and my mother is Serbian. I was born in Tuyla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Current place of residence: I live in Melbourne, Australia.

How did you start modeling?
Well, I was picking corn on a farm at the time and an agent happened to drive past and he threw a modeling contract at me. The rest is history.

What do you think is the secret of your success?
I think women today are sick of seeing underdeveloped teenagers modeling their clothes. They want a real woman with hips and thighs. Hahaha! But really I think that people in the industry get bored easily especially now that everything has been “done“ and every so often they need new toys to play with.

How often does it happen that people think you're a girl?
Oh all the time! Straight men have been hitting on me since I was eight years old!

What do you think about Lady Gaga?
I think the music could be more intelligent but I'm withholding judgment until I hear the next album. However I think she takes all the great elements from the 70's 80's and 90's music and fashion scenes as well as the icons, combines them and makes it all really mainstream. I admire her for that and her creativity, I think she is so successful because everyone else in our generation's time has been so boring.

嗯，那時我正在田裡撿玉米，經紀人剛好開車經過，然後他丟給我一紙合約。後來的事就是你們知道的那樣。

我覺得女人對於那些發育不良的青少女們穿著衣服展示已經感到厭煩。她們想看到的是一個有臀部和大腿的真女人。哈哈哈！但我真的覺得這個產業的人很容易感到厭(對事物)，特別現在什麼都是"速成的"，所以他們會想要有個新鮮貨。

喔，無時無刻！從八歲開始就會有異性戀男性跟我搭訕！

是啊在鏡頭前表演可能是我生活中最具創意的事。

Andrej Pejic é um dos nomes mais comentados da moda atual. Com os cabelos loiros e um corpo magérrimo, Andrej (pronuncia-se Andrei) é facilmente confundido com uma mulher.

Tanto que já desfilou diversos looks para mulheres, como no Fashion Rio, quando surgiu na passarela da grife Ausländer usando peças femininas.

Minutos antes de entrar na passarela do estilista Lino Villaventura, na noite da sexta-feira (17), Andrej falou com exclusividade ao R7 sobre ser confundido a todo momento. Quando questionado se preferia ser homem ou mulher, o top respondeu:
- Se pudesse escolher, seria uma borboleta.

Feliz por estar no Brasil e muito receptivo durante a SPFW, o modelo gargalhou quando a reportagem pediu para ver seus documentos e confirmar seu verdadeiro sexo.

- Não tenho nenhum documento comigo, mas mesmo que tivesse, prefiro manter o mistério. Será que não sou uma mulher enganando toda a indústria da moda?
